Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI)
Definition
Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) is a type of aircraft leasing arrangement. With an ACMI, an airline leases an aircraft, crew, and related maintenance and insurance functions to another airline (the lessee). The lessee airline pays for other expenses such as fuel.
Airlines sometimes use ACMI arrangements to surge for seasonal demand, or to cover fleet shortages that occur for maintenance or other reasons.
Examples of ACMI operators include Atlas Air, GetJet Airlines, Air Lease Corporation, and Avion Express.
