2012 has shown itself to be another good year in terms of furthering aviation safety. Preliminary data that European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has released ahead of its Annual Safety Review 2012 shows that there has been a further improvement in worldwide safety levels.
Fatalities
In commercial air transport operations, the number of fatal accidents decreased from 46 in 2011 to 39 in 2012 (down by 15.2%). More specifically, in passenger air transport operations there has been a reduction in the number of fatal accidents from 17 in 2011 to 11 in 2012 (down by 35.3%).
