On 23 August 2000, a Gulf Air A320 flew into the sea during a night go around at Bahrain. The airplane had been cleared to land on runway 12 at Bahrain International Airport, Muharraq, Bahrain, but after executing the missed approach, it impacted water about 3 miles northeast of the airport. The airplane was destroyed and all 143 persons on board were killed.
