Runway Excursion On 27 April 2008, A Virgin Atlantic A340 encountered shallow fog as it touched down on the runway at Nairobi Kenya and the pilots lost sight of the runway and runway lighting. The aircraft carried out a go-around and diverted to Mombasa. Subsequent inspection of the runway showed that the aircraft had momentarily departed the left side of the runway.
