This document provides an overview of the work being undertaken with the Core Requirements for ATM Working Positions (CoRe)' Project. The objective of this project is to improve both the process and outcomes of activities directed at upgrading the working positions of air traffic controllers. The research strategy of understanding existing development methods, identifying shortcomings, establishing requirements for improvement and developing solutions is described together with the main products of the project. These products include a qualitative model of the organisation of the development process, a practical development framework supporting improved Human-Machine Interface (HMI) specification and traceability, evaluation and re-use of requirements, and a fully documented exemplary en-route controller interface.
