On 30 November 2022, a Boeing 737-800 took off from Brisbane after entering a temporarily closed section of the departure runway shortly before becoming airborne. A corresponding NOTAM which had notified the closure had not been read by either the Training Captain or the First Officer undergoing line training. They had earlier landed on the same runway aware from the ATIS of a slightly reduced landing distance and although the landing performance had not been recalculated, they had exited the runway before its closed section without seeing it. Action to improve the both the presentation and use of NOTAMs followed.
