This document provides an insight into the issues for managing the Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) career as seen from the different perspectives of the organisation, managers and individual staff. These issues are more visibly coming to the fore as Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) organisations increasingly face environmental, organisational and societal changes from outside. Such changes present a challenge to retain skilled staff in the face of changing staff attitudes towards career, job satisfaction and personal growth.
