This document describes a Functional Hazard Assessment made to identify possible hazards associated to the introduction a new improved MSAW system in Skyguide, as proposed in the companion case study document Appendix D-1 : Enhancement of MSAW for Skyguide. Such a study has investigated the feasibility of extending the implementation of MSAW beyond its current boundaries and the effectiveness of using of digital terrain data. The potential hazards identified in the present study, however, pertain to the Skyguide MSAW system as a whole and are not exclusively covering the safety implications of the two proposed innovations.
