Preliminary Report, B788 (VT-ANB), vicinity Ahmedabad, India, 2025
On 12 June 2025, a Boeing 787-8 lost thrust in both engines when fuel starvation occurred for as yet undisclosed reasons immediately after the aircraft became airborne from Ahmedabad. It subsequently crashed killing all but one of the 242 occupants and causing 19 deaths and 67 injuries to those on the ground. An as yet incomplete disclosure of Cockpit Voice Recorder evidence confirms that action by one of the pilots, who is not identified, involving guarded fuel cut-off switches was the origin of fuel flow interruption. This and an apparently avoidable delay in its restoration then made ground impact inevitable.
