EASA has been tasked by the European Commission to develop a set of European rules for drones. EASA is proposing changes to the existing aviation rules to take into consideration the latest developments of drones (ANPA: Notice of Proposed Amendment to the rules). The ANPA is a proposal for the creation of common European safety rules for operating drones regardless of their weight. It proposes a proportional and operationcentric approach. In other words, it focuses more on ‘how' and under ‘what conditions' the drone is used, rather than only the characteristics of the drone.
