The purpose of this paper is to serve as a reference document on current risk and proposed mitigations for smoke and fire events on commercial transport aeroplanes. The occurrence of smoke or fire on board commercial aeroplanes during flight is a dangerous situation. If not dealt with effectively by the aircraft's crew, it can result in disaster.
