The ability to perceive and comprehend all of the relevant information available and anticipate what could happen that may affect the operation. A new entrant ground pilot should be able to identify and assess the state of the aircraft and its systems, the vertical and lateral position of the aircraft and its anticipated flight path and the general environment (weather, traffic, terrain) as it may affect the operation.
He/she also should be able to keep track of time and fuel, maintain awareness of the onboard pilot, gather and share relevant information with the onboard pilot, anticipate accurately what could happen, develop effective contingency plans based on potential threat together with the onboard pilot.
